Op 17 maart 2026 organiseert de VMBI het Young Researcher Symposium, een bijeenkomst gericht op het zichtbaar maken en stimuleren van jong talent binnen het domein van medical, clinical en health informatics.
Tijdens dit symposium worden de VMBI Young Researcher Awards 2025 uitgereikt voor excellent onderzoek in de volgende categorieën:
- Beste MSc-scriptie
- Beste PhD-thesis
- Beste post-master scriptie
Met deze prijzen wil de VMBI uitmuntend wetenschappelijk werk van jonge onderzoekers erkennen en onder de aandacht brengen. De nadruk ligt op originaliteit, kwaliteit van het onderzoek, en wetenschappelijke en/of maatschappelijke impact.
Scripties kunnen ingediend worden tot 22 januari 2026 via symposium@vmbi.nl
Selectie- en beoordelingsprocedure
Per categorie worden maximaal vier kandidaten genomineerd. Deze mogen tijdens het symposium hun werk presenteren. De beoordeling vindt plaats door een onafhankelijke jury bestaande uit ervaren onderzoekers uit verschillende expertisegebieden binnen het veld.
- 22 Januari 2026: deadline voor indienen scripties/theses uit 2025
- 15 Februari 2026: bekendmaking van de genomineerde scripties/theses
- 17 maart 2026: bekendmaking en uitreiking van de prijzen tijdens het symposium.
Locatie en Registratie symposium
Het symposium wordt gehouden bij het Nivel in Utrecht, Otterstraat 118.

On March 17, 2026, the VMBI will organize the Young Researcher Symposium, a meeting aimed at increasing the visibility of and encouraging young talent within the field of medical, clinical, and health informatics.
During this symposium, the VMBI Young Researcher Awards 2025 will be presented for excellent research in the following categories:
- Best MSc thesis
- Best PhD dissertation
- Best post-master’s thesis
With these awards, the VMBI aims to recognize and highlight outstanding scientific work by young researchers. The emphasis is on originality, research quality, and scientific and/or societal impact.
Theses can be submitted until January 22, 2026 via symposium@vmbi.nl.
Selection and evaluation procedure
A maximum of four candidates will be nominated per category. They will be invited to present their work during the symposium. The evaluation will be carried out by an independent jury consisting of experienced researchers from various areas of expertise within the field.
- January 22, 2026: deadline for submitting 2025 theses/dissertations
- February 15, 2026: announcement of the nominated theses/dissertations
- March 17, 2026: announcement and presentation of the awards during the symposium
